Bex's Mum's Crumble
From Bex on the forum:
Here's my Mum's crumble recipe. I know most people know how to make a crumble, but I don't know, I made one for the first time in ages the other day and the crumble was just so yummy and buttery that I had to pass it on.
2 oz sugar
4 oz butter
6 oz self raising flour
fruit in whatever quantity you want, depending on the size of the crumble.
- Cheat-stew the fruit in the nuker, by adding about 2 tbsp of water and one of sugar. Microwave it for a minute, then stir, another minute, then stir etc until the fruit is slightly soft. Tip for rhubarb, you only need a tiny splash of water added as it contains a lot of water anyway.
- Put your sugar, butter and flour into a bowl and rub through until you get fine-ish crumbs.
- Pop your semi cooked fruit into an ovenproof dish, and top with the crumble. Bake at about 200 degrees c for about 30 mins or until brown on the top.
One tip I will mention is it seems the butter makes all the difference to the crumble. Personally, if you can get hold of Golden Cow butter then oh-my-god, it is wonderful. Thanks Mum!
